Severity: important

        Hello. In the XSF we have detected a problem with the new versioning
featu=
re.=20
We have 4 merged bugs in the xserver-xorg package, namely #318218, #318231,=
=20
#318271 and #318405. They were closed by the 6.8.2.dfsg.1-3 release, but=20
users report failure in the fix, so I sent a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

found 318405 6.8.2.dfsg.1-3
merge 319003 318218
thanks
=2D-------------

        I did the second thing because I expected to find the merged bugs in
'open=
'=20
status again. But every one of them is:

* #318405: xserver-xorg sets wrong palete on switching to console.
Package: xserver-xorg (6.8.2.dfsg.1-1, 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2, 6.8.2.dfsg.1-3;
fixed: xorg-x11 6.8.2.dfsg.1-3);
Severity: grave;
Reported by: Reinhard Karcher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;
merged with #318218, #318231, #318271;
Done: David Nusinow <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;
Will be archived: in 28 days.

        So even when I have a bug in the supposedly closing version, the bug
does =
not=20
reopen. I f I say 'found', the BTS should remove the fixed from the list,=20
thus reopening it.

        We will not touch the bug reports in order to allow you to test.

        Best regards,

                Ender.

Fixed (I believe). All operations that edit the found and fixed version
lists now try much harder to come up with a source package name, and in
general try harder to canonicalise versions when deciding whether to
remove a version from the opposite list.

Thanks for your report,
