Firefox 3.1 will support HTML5 video element, but AFAICT it will only
support OGG via its embedded OGG player.
There's a patch in upstream BTS that implements GStreamer integration, but
it appears they plan to merge it post 3.1:

I's not using gstreamer, but <video> tag is supported in iceweasel 3.5.
