Some of the gif files used to display equations in the html docs
appear to be corrupted.
An example is
/usr/share/doc/apbs/html/user-guide/images/overline_kappa_2_of_x.gif,
used at file:///usr/share/doc/apbs/html/user-guide/index.html#kappa
On iceweasel it looks like half of two different equations merged on top of each
other. display catches the corruption at the command line too:
$ display /usr/share/doc/apbs/html/user-guide/images/overline_kappa_2_of_x.gif
display: Corrupt image
/usr/share/doc/apbs/html/user-guide/images/overline_kappa_2_of_x.gif'.
There are several more in section 4.2.2.6 under the write keyword.
