Hello,
When I start weechat the number of "wakeups-from-idle" shown by
powertop go from about 44 per second to about 144 per second.
Consequently, weechat is causing the laptop to consume far more power
than necessary.
I suspect this may be because weechat uses multiple threads. Moreover
this may not be a defect with weechat alone but a number of IRC
clients. However, the IRC proxy "bip" manages to log a number of
different channels and networks without increasing the number of
wakeups, so I suppose some alternative programming methodology would
reduce power consumption.
Now that my laptop is ageing this bug may prevent me from using my
favourite IRC client --- weechat!
