Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.11-2
Severity: normal
When using ALSA you can not choose an appropriate source to record a sound and
you can not adjust the volume to record.
If you check the source CD you can not record any sound (I used Audacity
to record). When using only alsamixergui you can not record anything.
When you also use kmix then you can also check "Capture". Then you can record
sound, but the volume can not be adjusted with any slider of alsamixer or kmix.
Moreover, both CD and Capture are then checked (which shouldn't be possible).
When I do use kernel 2.6.12 and the OSS driver via82cxxx (and via82cxxx_audio)
(and not ALSA) everything behaves as it should. In stead of "Capture" then I
have "IGain". This source can be checked for recording. When using ALSA the
source "Capture" can not be checked in alsamixergui, although it can be checked
in kmix.
I do not know where the problem is really located, but I suppose that ALSA is
cause of the problem.
It concerns the Analog Devices chip AD1885, the card is VIA 82C686A/B rev20.
