Package: rpm
Version: 4.7.0-9
Severity: grave
rpm refused to install source rpm, aka extract the source of packages.
| $ rpm -i lvm2-2.02.51-3.fc12.src.rpm
| rpm: please use alien to install rpm packages on Debian, if you are really
sure use --force-debian switch. See README.Debian for more details.
The rpm tool have two uses in Debian.
- Install (aka extract) source packages that also come in rpm format,
- extract binary packages and
- install binary packages, which needs to be used really carefully.
The first two are the only really usefull tasks, one of them does not
work anymore.
