The debian/copyright reads:

    metamail/

      All scripts written by Jens Peter Secher <[email protected]>, who
      disclaims all copyright in these scripts and places them in the
      public domain.

Unfortunately "public Domain" is not a software license. Please read:

    "Why the Public Domain Isn't a License" by Open Source attorney
    Lawrence Rosen

A SUGGESTION

Consider releasing files under GPL.

You are correct that Public Domain is not a license.

What I have done is to disclaim all copyright to the files I have
created, which I am perfectly entitled do.

A. Because it breaks the logical sequence of discussion.
Q. Why is top posting bad?
