Package: apt-listchanges
Version: 2.24
Severity: wishlist
When reading the changelogs, it would be more natural to read them
top-down going from old version to current version. This should be
optional. Policy dictates the format of the changeset blocks and
individual change entries, but does not dictate that they should be
listed descending chronologically yet policy recommends creating a
parser for a different format if you choose to use one. If ascending
chronologically is valid given the format in policy, I would like to
see this implemented broadly (of course, I imagine the tools that
process changelogs expect them to be descending chronologically, but a
sentence in policy would clarify this). But if it requires a parser, I
have attached a trivial one. Could apt-listchanges prompt with debconf
whether to do this and then filter the changesets through this program
(or something like that, I haven't dug into the apt-listchanges code)?
Should this be filed as a general wishlist bug, perhaps?
Thanks for all of your hard work (and Matt, esp. Debian Zaurus!),
