Package: bluez-gnome
Version: 1.8-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

since the last bluez-gnome update, it seems that the file receiving isn't
implemented anymore using gnome-vfs-obexftp but by gnome-user-share (the
only mention of that is in the changelog though, no Recommends: or stuff in
README.Debian). That's a good thing there is no Recommends anyway, because
gnome-user-share would bring apache, which is usually not a common soft
user want to have on its laptop.

I know GNOME isn't made for modularity, but the GNOME stack is really
becoming over monolithic, and adds more and more dependencies which are hard
to follow. Having to install a webserver just to be able to send a file
from my phone to my laptop is a bit too much.

It'd be nice if the functionnality could be added directly in bluez-gnome
(or maybe g-u-s should be splitted, in that case feel free to reassign).

Cheers,

Yves-Alexis

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/530829 in Debian BTS
against the package bluez-gnome. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/564571. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.
