Package: duplicity
Version: 0.6.06-2
Current duplicity has a dependency of python <<2.6 specified, although it works
just fine with any python 2.6.x version. This makes it difficult for those that
want a bit newer python on their boxes. Upstream has confirmed that duplicity
works with 2.6.
A popuar debian derivative has also changed the dependency of this version to
python <<2.7.

i have only limited control over what python version the build daemons
build duplicity against: duplicity is already marked as "works with any
python version", so once the python transition to 2.6 is progressing
in earnest duplicity will be rebuilt suitably. until then i cannot do
anything.
