I am trying to connect to my home desktop via VNC over SSH. I am using a
simple configuration which worked just fine with Grdc but does not work with
remmina.
On my home desktop, Debian Lenny is running with GNOME as desktop and Vino as
VNC server, passwordless. SSH uses public key authentication.
So under server I enter mybox:0, no user name, no password. In the ssh tab I
check enable ssh tunnel, then "custom", I enter the dyndns hostname. Under ssh
authentication I have my user name and "public key" checked.
When clicking "connect", the ssh connection is opened successfully, but the VNC
connection fails, the only message I see is "VNC server closed connection".
With Grdc the same setup functioned just fine. Also ssvnc works just fine for
me. The latter is just a simple TCL/TK frontend to the command line tools. I
would rather use remmina for the nicer interface, though.
What annoys me is that remmina has no console, no way to make it more verbose.
Thus I have absolutely no idea what exchange there is between the vino server
and remmina and why the vnc connection fails.
If you have any suggestion how to extract this information, please let me
know...
