I'm not a big GNOME user, so I wouldn't have been surprised by
gnome-specific errors (who knows what sort of Gnomes haven't found
homes on my box yet), but this seems to be an inconsistency between
the main mrproject binary and one of its dynamically internal
libraries.

Hmm... the dpkg version info looks suspicious:
ii libmrproject0 0.10-4 MrProject
Engine library
ii mrproject 0.9.1-5 A Project
Management Application for GNOME2

I've never used/installed mrproject before, so its not like I had a
stale copy already around. Perhaps something just hasn't percolated
into testing yet? (Shouldn't some part of the installer complain if
mrproject and libmrproject0 don't match?)

The stable version of Mr.Project (nowadays called Planner) available starting
with Sarge is at version 0.13, while this bug report concerns a version 0.9
that
was only available for a short time during Sarge's development phase. The issue
reported also appears to be fixed in version 0.13. Hence it would appear that
this bug no longer applies to any current Debian package and I am closing it.
