I believe that evms-ncurses should depend on the exact same version of evms
which should depend on the same version of libevms0.
For dependencies between packages from different sources it makes sense to
allow independant upgrades. For packages from the same upstream source there
is little benefit in this, but there is the potential for a dependency to
accidentally creep in.
I think that (with the exception of kernel-patch-evms and a possible future
package evms-doc) upgrading one evms package should require upgrading all of
them.

This is now ages ago, and I don't think the bug is relevant anymore. There's
now a âlibevms-X.Yâ package which takes care of binary compatibility, which
matches how it's done in the rest of Debian. Thus, I'm closing this bug.
