I tried to run dpkg on a version of the gnu-smalltalk deb which I
downloaded from www.debian.org. Presumably dpkg is correct that
it's corrupt. However, error messages of the form "error: [...] Success"
are self-contradictory and the sort of thing we laugh at Windows
programs for doing. Here's a transcript. The error seems
to be reliably reproducible. I've put a copy of the deb at
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~pmaydell/misc/bogus-smalltalk-pkg.deb
(it's supposed to be gnu-smalltalk-doc_1.8.1-1.deb, so it should
be pretty safe to play around with testing installing it.)
