Hi Gzegorz,

I'm using pimppa at debian/unstable. It looks great, but I have
following issues:

1. pimppa uses XHDR instead of XOVER
It is said, that XHDR produces five times more overhead than XOVER.
Therefore my newsprovider disabled XHDR

So I patched news.c by adding a "-Z" to the commandline of suck where
the headers are fetched.

But I discovered compile problems: - I applied the
pimppa_0.5.6-2.diff.gz-Patch

2. pimppa doesn't configure with libmysqlclient10 and libmysqlclient12
installed
After adding symlinks for the various libmysql libs from /usr/local/lib
to /usr/lib/libmysqlclient*.10, it worked

3. configure complains about an old "missing", but the patch doesn't
provide a new one

4. It doesn't compile with gcc-3.3

But it does with gcc-3.2, which complains:

files.c:1181:30: warning: multi-line string literals are deprecated

I think, one has to notify the upstream-author not to use multi-line
string literals anymore

5. I cannot download any articles.
My self-complied pimppa complains:

ERROR 1044 at line 1: Access denied for user: '@localhost' to database
'pimppa'

Do you have any comments on my problems 1 to 4 and any idea how to solve
problem #5?

Thanks in advance and many greetings

Olly

You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/243979 in Debian BTS
against the package pimppa. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/476745. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
