Could you provide a backport for Etch? The package compiles as-is on Etch and
works for me.

I am closing this bugreport due to the following events:
* Etch is already oldstable
* Backports are generally tracked outside of Debian BTS
I am sorry that I neglected this bugreport for a long time.
Backports are handled independently from main Debian. If you want to
ask for some backport in future, please use backports-users@ mailing
list or just build the package yourself and upload it, according to
backporting guide, as described here:
