Package: df
Version: N/A; reported 2002-03-29
Severity: wishlist
df shows bind mounts in its output. Since the point of the program is
really to show free space, and the free space of a bind mount is always
the same as the free space of the already mounted file system it binds
to, this really clutters up the df output a lot when using the
(increasingly common) stuff that uses bind mounts. For example, I have
the lsbdev package (not quite yet in debian) package installed here, and
'df' outputs 58 lines, up from 3 on this single-disk laptop, and the result
is much less useful.
I think perhaps it should exclude bind mounts by default, similar to how
it doesn't show /proc by default. Until such a time, I am usin df -x none.

You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/140479 in Debian BTS
against the package fileutils. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.
I was unable to find a bug that explains the reason for its removal,
but it appears to have been superceded by coreutils (which is an
essential package) on Mon, 30 Sep 2002 12:24:37 -0400.
I have decided not forward these bugs to coreutils, since a lot
could have been changed in these 8 years. If your issue is still
reproducible or still valid, do not hesitate to reopen and reassign
it or reply to this email.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
