xboard assumes that fairymax is installed. When you start xboard with no
options it eats a lot of cpu and then dies. I don't know debian packaging
policies by heart but i do not think that a program should assume that a
recommended application is installed.

I don't want XBoard to depend on fairymax because you can use XBoard without
fairymax, for example with the -ncp option. That's why fairymax is only in
Recommends. apt installs recommended packages by default, so this should not be
a major issue.
Therefore I am closing this bug.
