In the header boost/multi_index/detail/rnd_index_node.hpp line 19,
boost/math/common_factor_rt.hpp is included. This header is part of
libboost-math1.40-dev.
libboost1.40-dev only suggests libboost-math1.40-dev so that you quite easily
can end up with a system that has libboost1.40-dev but not
libboost-math1.40-dev.
First observed on ubuntu karmic, but dependencies are the same for debian
packages for boost versions at least 1.38 through 1.42.
