Hello,
This bug has been re-assigned to psmisc, the package that killall
belongs to.
You're using the wrong flags, -e is exact, you want -r. I tried
killall -r firefo* and it killed iceweasel fine.
I'll close the bug as it looks like user error, but if it does actually
not work with -r then we can look at it reopened.
