Package: motion
Version: 3.2.3-2.1

I have an old computer with Cirix CPU, detected as 486 by the current
debian kernel (Etch, stable). I have just installed motion (binary,
using apt, version 3.2.3-2.1). It crashes with "Illegal instruction"
error:

j...@piw:~$ motion -n -ddd
Illegal instruction
j...@piw:~$ motion -n
Illegal instruction
j...@piw:~$ motion
Illegal instruction

I believe, it may be because of some CPU instructions not supported by
my CPU. In my opinion, there shall be perhaps a special version of
motion package for 486 CPUs. Or maybe the same package shall include two
sub-binaries - one for 486 CPUs? Or maybe here are other ways to cope
with it.

Note that I have just compiled motion from sources and I get no such
error.

I am using the Debian kernel for my CPU: 2.6.18-6-486 and libc6 version
2.3.6.ds1-13etch7.

Regards,
JJ

Support for oldstable (etch) ended 2009/02, which is why I close this
bug. Currently, Debian Lenny was frozen. We are working to kill any
bugs. I appreciate the concern about it and invite him to continue to
report failures,

Sincerely,
