Package: udisks
Version: 1.0.1+git20100614-1
Severity: normal
After uninstalling udisks, I found udisks daemon process running on the box I
uninstalled it.
$ aptitude search udisks
c udisks
- abstraction for enumerating block devices
p udisks-doc
Evidence of process still tunning:
$ ps aux|grep udisks
root 22360 0.0 0.2 3860 796 pts/0 S+ 20:18 0:00 grep udisks
root 24635 0.0 0.2 13944 644 ? Sl Jul18 0:09
/usr/lib/udisks/udisks-daemon
root 24636 0.0 0.0 5480 4 ? S Jul18 2:07 udisks-daemon:
polling /dev/sr0
The program file does not exist anymore :
# cd /usr/lib/udisks
-bash: cd: /usr/lib/udisks: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type # sorry I
forgot to set LANG to C before filling bug. That means that the directory does
not exist.
# aptitude purge udisks # purging package
(skipping unrepeatable rude French language output meaning that the purge was
ok.
# aptitude search udisks
p udisks
- abstraction for enumerating block devices
p udisks-doc
- abstraction for enumerating block devices - documentation
Evidence that the daemon is still running:
# ps aux|grep udisks
root 24635 0.0 0.2 13944 836 ? Sl Jul18 0:09
/usr/lib/udisks/udisks-daemon
root 24636 0.0 0.0 5480 4 ? S Jul18 2:11 udisks-daemon:
polling /dev/sr0
root 26996 0.0 0.2 3860 800 pts/0 S+ 00:00 0:00 grep udisks
More cleverly I shoukd have tried to stop the daemon:
# invoke-rc.d udisks stop
before purging it...
but Remove process should have invoked start-stop daemon.

.
* debian/udisks.postinst
- Query D-Bus to find out the correct pid of the process claiming
org.freedesktop.UDisks. This way we do not accidentally kill the
wrong process when being installed in a chroot. (Closes: #593195)
* debian/udisks.prerm
- Stop udisks-daemon on remove. (Closes: #590013)
* debian/control
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.1. No further changes.
- Update Build-Depends according to configure.ac.
