Package: gimp
Version: 2.2.6-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

I'm not too sure, this bug may be related to #326973 although it
happens much more often, as it concerns the dialog for loading or saving a
file. In gimp 1.3 there used to be an intuitive unix-like automatic
completion of filenames, that disappeared in gimp 2.0. It renders the file
dialog almost unusable as you have to click on directories and such, so
you loose a lot of time by being forced to use the mouse. I tried to stay
with gimp 1.3 as long as I could because of this really annoying interface
problem.

I suppose Debian developers can't do such a big patch as redeveloping
the file dialog so that it becomes usable again, but if you could forward
the request to upstream maintainers...

    Thank you.

Firstly, this is a GTK dialog which Gimp has very little control over.
Secondly, if you want automatic completion of filenames, press ctrl-l.
In newer versions of GTK, this is available through the right-click menu
too.
