Hi,
I just installed the new version of the nonfree NVidia driver from there
installer.
Yesterday I deleted 6 lines for nvidia in /etc/modules, so that only one
remains in
there. After inserting the new module with modprobe, I had again two lines of
that.
Modprobe should check, if there is a line for the module to insert before
adding one.
Some modules aren't inserted in the running kernel, because they weren't build
at boot,
this will change when the module is build. I just wanted to install the module,
not
have it loaded twice while boot (or at least tried to load it two times).

You are confused. modprobe does not read nor write /etc/modules.
