disappeared out of the gnome menu.

Yes, that solves the problem. Does this mean that the Debian menus are
deprecated? Shouldn't gnome-menus recommend, or at least suggest,
menu-xdg? Should package maintainers make sure to add GNOME menu entries
as well as Debian menu entries?
