Hi,

grub-probe selects for an unknown reason /dev/root as device for the root
filesystem. While /dev/root is a symlink to the real device, this
selection is useless and the kernel fails to boot.

# grub-probe --target=device /
/dev/root

# ls -l /dev/root
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4  9. Jan 17:21 /dev/root -> sda4

# grep /root /boot/grub/grub.cfg
        linux   /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.37.tracetest+ root=/dev/root ro  nosmp
radeon.agpmode=2
        linux   /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.37.tracetest+ root=/dev/root ro single
        linux   /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.37+ root=/dev/root ro  nosmp radeon.agpmode=2
        linux   /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.37+ root=/dev/root ro single

I don't use an initrd.

Bye, Jörg.
