Apparently, many 2.3.2 versions had a bug that effectively ignored armor
throughout the game. This obviously is unfair, as it makes armor research
a wasted effort. This also caused weapon balancing in the game to become
badly influenced, for example rendering machine guns much more powerful than
they were supposed to be.

translations and several other problems (see below)."
May I suggest an update of warzone2100 for the release, as version 2.3.4 has
severe gameplay deficits, and after all no other application is depending on
warzone2100? Backporting just the armor fix will not work, as weapons balancing
had been adjusted in the meantime; just re-adding the armor will likely break
weapons balancing the other way then!
Also there are additional fixes, including some crashers, in 2.3.6
