Package: enlightenment
Version: 1:0.16.7.2-1
Severity: normal

Enlightenment produces a segmentation fault on starting. It will get to
the point just prior to the completion of loading, immediately after the
grey bar showing "enlightenment loading: xx%" disappears, and immediately
before the desktop appears.

The grey "enlightenment produced a seg fault" window appears. Clicking
on the "ignore" or "restart" buttons has no apparent effect.

If run from startx ("startx enlightenment"), the following error message
is produced:
Unable to open tagged file
~/.enlightenment/cached/pager/DEFAULT_WUI_BLUE.60.48.0wcO8Y0000000g00400000000000001cw0004c0000b9o634000000000000000000.png:
No such file or directory

I am unable to obtain a backtrace as when starting a failsafe Xsession
and using "gdb enlightenment" the segfault does
not occur, instead enlightenment simply halts in the same place, and
pressing ctrl-c has no effect. Use of a sequence of kill commands once
produced the above error and this message in the xterm:

SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xb7b245b3 in id3_file_close () from /usr/lib/libid3tag.so.0

This behaviour occurs after purging configuration files, both with apt
and by manually moving ~/.enlightenment. It still occurs after
manually specifying a different theme using
~/.enlightenment/user_theme.cfg

Removing enlightenment and using a locally compiled version of e16 from
the CVS (3/9/05)(english style dates) (gcc 3.3) also fails to change
this behaviour.
As does using a version of e16 compiled from source on another debian
(gcc 4.0) machine.

Enlightenment first started to segfault after updating X to 6.8.2.dfsg.1-5
(unfortunately not the only update at that time), but that segfault
happened only after traversing menus for a few seconds. I tried reinstalling
enlightenment, thinking it might be a configuration file error, and
this started happening.

For what it's worth, twm works fine, and running imlib2_test gives no
errors. I have no idea why this should happen, but if anyone could
provide a solution, I would be most grateful.

thanks

Nevermind. id3 support was added to imlib2 CVS after
the last imlib2 release, which is the current one in
Debian.
