This was going to be a rant about how gaim is another of those bloody
gnome apps that interpret the ctrl-w text editing command (hard-wired
into my fingers) as close window. Then, I noticed that the preferences
window has an option "Interface/Shortcuts/Control-W closes window".
However, that option is not set, and ctrl-w still closes the window.
Specifically, if I "join a chat" put the focus in the entry widget,
ctrl-w closes the window. So the option seems not to be honored.
You could also interpret this bug as a request for emacs-style editing
commands in gaim (as in mozilla). The "turn off ctrl-w" option is a
hack, and having to select such an option in every application is a
pain.
