Hello, actually when installing Debian people is asked to participate to popcon
or not. The default action is to not participate. I think this makes popcon
lose a lot of users because they don't even read the page about popcon, and I
think this applies to most of the desktop/first users. If people is really
aware of any privacy and networks issues about using popcon, they will then
choose the right option. I would like to propose to make participating the
default action.

Hello Luca,
I agree with Christian. Debian has always strived to preserve user privacy by
default.
The current setting ensure users make an informed choice of participating to
popcon.
If a user would activate popcon without noticing it and then detect that their
computer
is "phoning home", their trust in Debian would be shaken.
