Package: samba
Version: 2:3.4.8~dfsg-2
Severity: normal
Hello, I am trying to get samba running on my computer, so I can
connect from some Windows clients.
(smbclient connect fails and I am looking for proper configuration
of smb.conf.)
The man page is missing unfortunately.
In samba-doc there is a smb.conf.5.html version, but a man page would be
nice.
Regards Thomas

I'm afraid the Subject says it all.
In this bug report, smb.conf.5 was missing because the *recommended*
package samba-common-bin was not installed.
samba-common-bin is recommended. Recommends are installed by
default. If the manpage was mandatory for running the software, I
would agree that something should be changed.
Here, something not mandatory is missing because a Recommends wasn't
installed. I see no problem.
Hence closing the bug report.
