Package: perl-base
Version: 5.6.1-7
Severity: wishlist

The Config.pm variable 'sendmail' is undefined as distributed, even though
the exim package, which includes a compatibility link /usr/sbin/sendmail,
is installed on this system. I think most other packages that provide
mail-transport-agent also include this link, although I am not sure that
all of them do.

Some perl modules test this configuration variable to adjust their behavior,
and, in the worst case, disable all mail functionality if it's undefined.
They can hardly be blamed for that, as that's precisely the purpose of
configuration variables. The debian perl package should define this
variable if a sendmail-compatible MTA is installed.
