Package: xscreensaver
Version: 5.11-1+b1
Severity: important
This bug is a little bit like bug #543257 . I thought first I should
file it under xscreensaver-gl . But anyway, here it goes:
I have this kind of video card according to command lspci :
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G550 AGP (rev 01)
It uses Open-Source drivers. AFAIK it is the last video card model by
Matrox, where specs are open.
My problem is this: When some OpenGL-screensaver runs and I move mouse
or press some button in keyboard, sometimes they lock up whole
keyboard this way: When I repeatedly press CapsLock, state of
CapsLock-LED do not change at all. Screenhack stops moving, of course.
But I haven't tried, what happens, if I blindly enter my password via
keyboard, though; I think this and my video card are the only
differences with bug #54325 .
This way I can rectify the situation: I boot up my netbook and log in.
Then I just log in to this machine via SSH. Then I run command "ps xf
| less" in order to find process of that screenhack. I just kill that
process with signal -9 ; Any other signal do not work. Then password
dialog of XScreenSaver appears and key board works again and I can
unlock my screen normally.
Next thing I normally do, is to start xscreensaver-demo and disable
that offending screenhack from list of screensaver so it is never
chosen, when random screenhack is run.
My netbook has video card circuits by Intel and it do not have this
bug.
