Package: nut
Version: 2.4.3-1
Severity: normal

1. upsd.users.5 states that the cmdvartab file is supplied with the
distribution.
The cmdvartab is not distributed in the deb.
2. The new-names.txt is included in the deb. It, and the cmdvartab file from the
source distribution, refers to each other.  I am not sure which one is more
up
to date.  Should new-names be renamed, so that the name gets more related to
its
   contents ?

this file is distributed and located in /usr/share/nut/cmdvartab

it's purpose is to be used by upsd to serve data description, which are then
displayed for example by upsrw.

2. The new-names.txt is included in the deb. It, and the cmdvartab file from

with the full documentation (and website) revamp in 2.6.0, this file has
been renamed to nut-names.txt, and is available as an appendix in the user
and developer documentation:
http://www.networkupstools.org/docs/user-manual.chunked/apc.html
http://www.networkupstools.org/docs/developer-guide.chunked/apa.html

it's however still distributed in plain text format:
/usr/share/doc/nut/nut-names.txt.gz
but it sole purpose is documentation, conversely to cmdvartab.

I'm thus closing this bug. Don't hesitate to reopen if you feel there is
still something missing...

cheers,
Arnaud
