Hello,

the Debian template script tests if the architecture is i686 and corrects it
to i386 but fails to do so for i586 systems (in my case a Geode PC). This bug
can be corrected by changing

if [ "$arch" == "i686" ]; then
        arch=i386
fi

to

if [ "$arch" == "i686" ] || [ "$arch" == "i586" ]; then
        arch=i386
fi

Best Regards,
Benjamin Kiessling
