Package: mrtg
Version: 2.8.9-1

I've added a new system to mrtg and got:

1st run:

finlandia:/var/lib/webspace/bin# mrtg /etc/mrtg.cfg
Rateup WARNING: /usr/bin//rateup could not read the primary log file for
rakastava.eth1
Rateup WARNING: /usr/bin//rateup The backup log file for rakastava.eth1 was
invalid as well
Rateup WARNING: /usr/bin//rateup Can't remove rakastava.eth1.old updating log
file
Rateup WARNING: /usr/bin//rateup Can't rename rakastava.eth1.log to
rakastava.eth1.old updating log file

2nd run:

finlandia:/var/lib/webspace/bin# mrtg /etc/mrtg.cfg
Rateup WARNING: /usr/bin//rateup Can't remove rakastava.eth1.old updating log
file

It's quite logical that these files did not exist before, since
this system was added recently and no old data and logfiles were
there.

Please kick these messages.

Regards,

        Joey

Upstream reply to this request is:

the reason for these messages is, that there may be other reasons
for the log file to not exist. Since mrtg rectifies the situation
automatically, it should say something about it.

Closing then.
