Package: alsa-base

Version: 1.0.23+dfsg-4
Severity: normal

Sound captured from the microphone is full of crackle. During a voice
conversation my speech would be accompanied with crackle but silence is
maintained when I'm not talking.
I'm using the onboard sound card on my motherboard, a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, it
has Intel HD Audio with a Realtek ALC889A codec.

The problem was fixed by adding the following to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
:

options snd-hda-intel position_fix=2

Please be insight that we can't install this option as default.
There are so many flavours of snd-hada-intel out side that
collisions will always be possible.

Please do as root:

echo "options snd-hda-intel position_fix=2" > /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel.conf

as alsa-base.conf will be overwritten on each update.

According to your fix you can read
/usr/share/doc/alsa-base/README.Debian.gz.

So I close this bug herewith.

Thanks for your cooperation
Elimar
