Package: udev
Version: 164-3
Severity: important
I just upgraded 3 different systems from lenny to squeeze, and the devices for
all disks are missing on all 3 systems - /dev/block, /dev/disk, /dev/sd*, and
/dev/xvd* on a Xen host. Other devices are present.
I have never modified the udev configuration on any of these machines.

I guess that your kernel is miscompiled and lacks some mandatory
options.
Check README.Debian.
