Package: xpdf-reader
Version: 3.02-1.4+lenny2
Severity: important
xpdf has a menu, which opens on a right mouse click. Like with most
other menus, while the right mouse-button is kept pressed, the mouse
can only be used to select a menu-entry, and the keyboard is ignored.
Normally, if you e.g. click on "open" in this menu, the menu disappears
and the open-dialog appears. But sometimes (maybe due to bouncing mouse-
buttons or a repeated right mouse-click under high load) the open-dialog
appears *and* the menu appears again, and the menu behaves as if the right
mouse button would be kept pressed, no matter if the mouse buttons are
released again or not. But the menu does not accept mouse clicks, since
the (modal) open-dialog is open, and the open-dialog does not accept mouse
clicks, since the menu grabbed the mouse (and keyboard).
This causes that neither mouse nor keyboard are usable anymore by any
program, which makes the entire system unusable until you (a) reboot
or (b) log in remotely and kill xpdf.
I guess that this problem is caused by bad mouse-event handling, because
it seems like the menu gets the mouse-press-event but (I guess because
the open-dialog opened) doen't get the release-event or any following
mouse-events.
