Package: i3-wm
Version: 4.0.2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I noticed that i3-wsbar is not included in debian package but it is found for
example in archve available from http://i3wm.org/downloads/i3-4.0.2.tar.bz2

It would be nice not having to download i3-wsbar separately.
Cheers,

Piotr Kordy

Hi Piotr,

This is actually kind of intended -- the upstream Makefile installs i3bar
instead of i3-wsbar. We are currently in a transition period:

i3bar is the new way to go, it comes with i3 and provides the same features as
i3-wsbar (automatic configuration of new monitors) and even more -- system tray
support is implemented for i3 4.1 for example, configuration from within your
regular i3 config file is planned. Also, i3bar does not introduce any new
dependencies (or recommendations in the Debian package).

Therefore, if you depend on functionality which is currently only provided by
i3-wsbar (the configuration seems to allow for a few more corner cases which
might not yet work in i3bar right now), feel free to download it. While it
should keep working just fine in the future, I think it will be officially
deprecated with the i3 4.1 release.

Best regards,
Michael
