Package: scim-gtk2-immodule
Version: 1.4.9-7
Severity: important
scim should support gtk3 immodule. Otherwise, it can be used only via
xim. (QT4 support is missing too.)
Are you going to do this? If not, I need to change im-config package to
use updated configuration default to keep scim useful. Let me know
maintainer's thought on this.
Oh, I am using ibus only these days. Please drop me from maintainer
with next upload.
If no one respond to this, I will ask removal of this package. This is
because, if no one is paying attention for this package, this package is
likely to become a source of security risk. As long as I get response
to this bug report, I will not do this removal request. (I am not
requesting gtk3 immodule package to keep this package alive.)

Osamu

Osamu-san
How are you doing, I hope everything is OK with you. It's sad to see
you go. Maybe you can reconsider even if you don't use scim much
these days?
I will immediately close your ticket which raises several issues in
one, none of which are new or valid.
First, it would be appreciated if you as a current maintainer and
even only as a plain user were to check the current, fairly short
list of open tickets against the scim package. You should then see
that your request for gtk3 has already been filed, even including a
patch -> #641140. This patch has also been upstreamed.
Secondly, libgtk2 will continue to be supported into the future. I
think you are overlooking this fact. GTK2 apps will work fine in
Gnome3, I'm told, but I haven't touched it myself, yet.
Thirdly, the last upload has been about a month ago. Why are you
hinting this package should be removed, "no one is paying attention
for this package"? Hmmm... Have a look at popcon, the usage base
has quintupled over the last year! I don't feel like abandoning
these users in a heartbeat. Scim is certainly fading away, but ibus
is not yet fully ready, I'd say. So, it's very premature to call
for the death of scim in Debian.
Regards
Rolf
