Severity: wishlist

With systems using different libnss modules (e.g. based on database)
adding '--numeric-owner' option to 'tar' can improve backup size
estimation speed; temporarily problem with libnss database even makes
creating of backup impossible (I'm mentionig it although this is a
libnss-pgsql related bug). Modification of sendsize.c is just trivial
(see included patch), but I'm not sure if this switch exists on all tar
implementations.
