Please consider removing the dependency on texlive-latex-base and change
it to recommends.
As far as I can tell, a tex installation is not necessary for the
program to run or to edit tex files. It is necessary only to process the
source.
One might wish to use a tex editor without Debian's installation of tex
for two reasons. First, one might be using texlive from upstream under
/usr/local/texlive. Second, one might wish to edit source but not
process on a particular machine e.g. to use the same editor on a desktop
and netbook but only process on the desktop or to use an institutional
installation of tex for processing.
Not all dedicated tex editors in Debian depend on a tex installation.
texmaker and texworks both recommend, but do not depend, on
texlive-latex-base. (And both work perfectly well on my machine in spite
of its absence!)
