I happened to notice this bug with make 3.82 (available in experimental)
installed on my machine:
dpkg-source --before-build binutils-2.22
fakeroot debian/rules clean
debian/rules:1257: *** missing separator (did you mean TAB instead of 8
spaces?). Stop.
dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules clean gave error exit status 2
That was easy enough to fix, package is building right now.
