Package: mined
Version: 2000.15.4-1
Severity: normal

Sorry but I have to say, this package comes in a very sloppy packaging
work... Maybe no one uses this thus no bug report exists but this is no
excuse for the maintainer. The program itself looks interesting UTF-8
capable WordStar/TarboPascal like editor with active upstream.

By the way, I get reminder from upstream reminding me there is a new
upstream release. (I have no idea why ...) So you must be uploading
new one soonish as the maintainer. Please read the following and
address issues raised.

Let me be specific on bugs.

Please note
$ pwd;ls -l README
/usr/share/doc/mined
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 Sep 26  2009 README -> usrshare/package_doc/README

This link is broken one since usrshare is in /usr/share/mined and
clearly a bug. This may be upstream changing directory usage and
maintainer script may not have been updated in sync. But this is a bug.

Another thing is this directory usage of /usr/share/mined/ is a bit out
of line with other normal packages. Many scripts under
/usr/share/mined/bin/* and /usr/share/mined/conf_user/* seems to be ones
normally under /usr/share/doc/mined/examples .

package_doc/* and doc_user/* should be normally in /usr/share/doc/.

If you have reason to keep there, please make links from normal location
to these so the user can fond them.

I wonder why /usr/share/mined/setup_install/* are there? Why not use
them as postinst and load them into proper location so Gnome menu list
them. (It seems these are not used. I did not check it but just an
impression. I may be wrong here.)

(If I package this, I would move most of these to the normal location
except /usr/share/mined/help/mined.hlp. after patching documentation.)

Anyway, this package still uses old dpatch. Time to make a clean
repackage using the dh syntax and 3.0(quilt) format, I think.

Osamu
