Package: language-env
Version: 0.41
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

language-env is a great peace of software, but it still lack a few feature
before perfection, and before we could ask adduser maintainer to link to it.

First, we need a way to run the program in batch mode, so that other
programs and script can use it. What about a -y option, which answers yes
to all questions.

Then, asking the users to rerun the program each time a new version of the
package is installed is an avoidable pain. You should write the user answers
to a file like ~/.language-env, and put something like

  set-language-env --rerun-if-needed

in all .bashrc and such files. That way, when a new version of the package
is installed, user's settings will be automagically updated.

This could also be used to get the users run the program the first time they
log on their account after creation.

A more difficult wishlist: Add support for fallback. Ie, allows the user to
say that he wants to see the messages in swedish if available, and in danish
if not. See #172704, which implements this in debconf for more details.

Thanks for your great work. I really think that your program has the
potential to become a central part of Debian.

Thanks, Mt.
