Package: cron
Version: 3.0pl1-120
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

In man 5 crontab there are a few examples with "date +.." commands
executed in cron jobs. However, none of these are working because cron
considers '+' a special character and deletes the string after it. This
is what I received from such an execution:

/bin/sh: 1: Syntax error: end of file unexpected (expecting ")")

The cron job was:
# m h  dom mon dow   command
2   *    *   *   *   test $(date +%u) -eq 3 && echo Wed21

Thanks
