Hello,

this is a a strange bug - I don't understand why this happens:
If I start twinkle with an alsa device - I hear nothing - the other person
also hears nothing with this options (for all possible alsa devices):

ring: ALSA
headphone: ALSA
mic: ALSA

If I use OSS all works perfect. For better debugging I createt the alsa-device
pulse (/etc/asound.conf):
pcm.pulse {
    type pulse
}

ctl.pulse {
   type pulse
}

So I enterd:

ring: ALSA-other device: pulse
headphone: ALSA-other device: pulse
mic: ALSA-other device: pulse

And unfortunatelly I don't hear nothing at all. But when I open PulseAudio
Manager - I see a strange behaviour: The Audio Stream of twinkle start and
stop very quickly - no permanent stream about 100 new streams in 1 sec. So I
downloaded the code (apt-get source twinkle ) an looked into it weather I see
a codepart that destroyes the audostream but no - the code was clean. Just
for fun I compiled the code and installed it - and saw:
No problem anymore with alsa and pulseaudio.

So I think the best is to compile the package so this bug is hopefully fixed (
diffs to the original packge shows the onl difference in /usr/bin/twinkle).
Neither in twinkle.log nor in syslog or other logs a found any error or
warning that could match to this bug. No pulseaudio nor als entry
available... The only debug message from twinkle

+++ 14-1-2009 19:44:37.614421 DEBUG NORMAL t_audio_tx::play_pcm
Audio tx line 1: jitter buffer empty.
---

but this message is also thrown with the new compiled package.

Maybe you understand this bug ... If I can help anyhow ...

Dear

sandro
