Hi!
When creating a new Account (like when starting thunderbird the first
time) it automatically connects to its IMAP and SMTP server without
TLS/SSL.
With SMTP, "TLS when available" should be used. With IMAP a similar
option would be great to have and being used. It was quite annoing to
have my password sent over the net in the clear without having a chance
to fix the configuration beforehand.
