Package: dkim-filter
Version: 2.6.0.dfsg-1+lenny1
Severity: normal
dkim-filter[1567]: 739F3180BC: key retrieval failed
Due to an incorrect selector being used by the sender I was getting a lot of
messages like the above but no information as to the real cause of the
problem. I ended up using tcpdump to see the DNS requests to discover the
cause.
I believe that it should be possible to identify such problems without tcpdump,
so the log entries need to note the fact that a TXT lookup for
foo._domainkey.example.com failed.
dkim-filter[1567]: 739F3180BC: key retrieval failed for
foo._domainkey.example.com
A log message such as the above would make things really clear.
